Slipcases often get a bad wrap (!),  but if done well they can be a less expensive alternative to the clam-shell box. In this NOBS Forum, Cris Takacs, Book Binder/Conservator Extraordinaire, will construct a simple slipcase and show examples for using it to protect and enhance books, loose papers, and even small objects.
